Houston International Insurance Group (HIIG) announced today that Susan K. Swails would be named Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) effective immediately, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. This position was previously held by Stephen L. Way, Chairman & CEO of HIIG.
Ms. Swails, who is currently Executive Vice President with responsibility for all Property & Casualty (P&C) underwriting operations, has been with the Company for three years joining from AIG and previously working for Mr. Way at HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc.
Ms. Swails has extensive experience in P&C lines of business, particularly many of the specialty lines that HIIG writes. She will retain her specific responsibilities in Offshore Energy where she enjoys world-wide respect with clients, producers and reinsurers.
Mr. Way said, “Susan is a perfect choice for this extremely important role and not one that I give up easily. I have great faith in Susan’s ability to represent and help guide the Company as we continue to grow.”
